How can one dress change someone's future?

You have the opportunity to be a part of this exciting new ministry!

Women At Risk (WAR), International is asking for donations of new or gently used (less than 10 years old)wedding, bridesmaid, mother of the bride/groom or formal dresses. Accessories like shoes and purses are also welcome. These items will be sent to WAR, Int.'s Dominican Republic team. The team will put the dresses on consignment with a local Christian store owner. In this part of the world, women rent their dresses for special events.

The revenue generated from the dress sales will go to:

1. Funding a training center in South America that will teach others how to do Women At Risk ministries. This center will train women all over South America, Dominican Republic, the Caribbean, and the Middle East in order to reach women in their region and beyond. This center will focus on bringing women healing, providing income generating skills and jobs to wounded women who are at risk of or rescued from human trafficking. (Click here http://www.warinternational.org/ to read about their different ministries.)

2. Providing jobs for women to work as seamstresses in the store since the dresses need to be altered each time they're rented. These women will work in a safe, loving environment and will be protected from the deception of sex traffickers. They will also be shown Christ's love and taught how to love and follow Him.

3. In addition, your dress will be a blessing to women over and over as it will be worn again and again. Each time a woman comes into the shop to look for a dress, she will interact with people who love Jesus. Just think, your wedding dress could be the catalyst for someone to learn about Jesus for the first time.

Bottom Line? Your dress/donation will help to stop human trafficking in the lives of women and children. Your dress will introduce many to the healing love of Jesus. Amazing that something collecting dust in a closet could do so much...

Can I still be involved if I don't have a dress to donate?

There are several ways you can participate:

1. Spread the word- call, email, blog, facebook, and text your friends, neighbors, co-workers, churches, and family members! This is where all bloggers can shine! Copy the button and put it on your blog, so others can find their way here. Let's get behind this exciting ministry!

2. Make a financial contribution- With your financial gift, WAR is able to buy used wedding dresses from a consignment shop in MI at a reduced price. Donations will also help with the cost involved for WAR to ship all the dresses to the Dominican Republic. You can donate any amount of funds to this project by clicking on this link- http://www.warinternational.org/.

3. Pray!! Let's cover this ministry in prayer and watch how God works!

Post here if you said "yes" with a dress!

We want to hear from you! Once you have sent your dress or donation, post here and let us know. You could just post your name and state, or something about your dress. This will be the place to give God glory for what He has done! It will be exciting to see all the places the support for this ministry comes from.

Here's my example:

I gave a bridesmaids dress I wore in my sister's wedding!
